Peter ran, pushing himself to his body’s limits before backing off, sweat pouring off him.

He needed to work off all the good food at Jack’s, take a shower, and feed the dogs before checking in on the store.

It was just after noon. The last four days, Jack had been home by now, but Peter knew Jack had been coming home early from the bakery so they could spend more time together. That couldn’t last forever, though.

This was all new relationship energy. That was it. New old relationship energy.

He grinned at himself, cooling down as he walked the rest of the way back to Jack’s. Right. He was stupid in love all over again. And Jack seemed pretty invested too. Or was he getting ahead of himself? God knew, his first time around with Jacky had been the last time a relationship had really worked for him.

Not that that made him a loser, right? He rolled his eyes.

He really should go to the store. Take Lacy home. Though she looked pretty happy with Cupcake.

Peter made use of Jack’s shower, spending a little time under the wonderful showerhead Jack had. It had a massage mode that was decadent. He brushed his teeth, got dressed—all the morning ablutions. Then he settled in Jack’s living room.

The front door opened, and Jack came in, his face lighting up when he caught sight of Peter. “Hey, baby, I’m home.”

“Hey. How are you? How is the bakery?”

“I’m good. The bakery is great. We sold out of bread by 10:00 a.m. today. I’m going to have to start making more. Good thing there were lots of cookies and bars for everyone to buy.” Jack came over to him and wrapped him in a hug. “I missed you.”

“Oh God, I missed you too. Crazy, I know, but true.”

“I don’t care if it’s crazy. I think it’s great having someone in my life who I want to be with all the damn time, who I really miss if I’m away from.” Jack tilted his head and brought their mouths together, the kiss a wonderful hello.

Jack’s confidence made Peter ache, made him almost dizzy.

When the kiss ended, Jack smiled down at him but didn’t let him go. “Have you eaten lunch yet?”

“You’re going to make me fat.”

Jack slid his hands down along Peter’s sides, the touch firm, wonderful. “I don’t feel an extra ounce.”

“No?” He arched into the touch. Oh, so good. He could worry later.

Jack wrapped an arm around his shoulders. “No. Not at all. Come on. Let’s have some lunch. I’m pretty sure there’s a pot of homemade soup in the freezer. Do you know what the best thing about soup is?” Jack stopped at the fridge and pulled a plastic pot out of the freezer.

“It’s warm and yummy?”

“It’s the perfect vessel for dipping bread into.” Jacky gave him this huge dorktastic grin.

“I should have known. It would be bread.” God, that was adorable.

“You should have,” Jack agreed. “I tell you, I’m obsessed.”

“You have your bread; I have my antique dildos.
